IMPORTANT DATES --------------------- Workshop Proposal: May 20, 2015 Submission of Research Articles: -------------------------------- Abstract (Optional): August 5, 2015, 11:59pm PST Full Paper : August 20, 2015, 11:59pm PST (Extended) Notification : September 10, 2015 Camera Ready Copy : September 20, 2015 (11:59 pm PST) Conference : December 09-11, 2015 CALL FOR PAPERS --------------------- The MIKE 2015 Program Committee invites submissions of original 1. theoretical research papers, 2. applied research papers and 3. deployed application papers on all aspects of Learning Algorithms, Data / Text Mining and Knowledge discovery techniques for the main technical program. Springer will publish MIKE 2015 Proceedings in their Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) series. The accepted papers will be indexed by very popular Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases like DBLP, Scopus and ArnetMiner; SCI Compendex; and others. Additionally, we are planning to have special issue journals for selected papers. Submission Topics: The MIKE 2015 Program Committee invites submissions of original theoretical research, applied research and deployed application papers on all aspects of Data Mining, Learning theory and Knowledge Discovery. Example submission areas include, but are not limited to: Advances in Machine Learning Algorithms for Intelligent Learning Analogical, cognitive, and creative reasoning Business Intelligence Case Based Recommender Systems Collective Learning and Tagging Context aware techniques Cross / Multi Language content mining Crowdsourcing & Crowd Mining Algorithms and Systems Big Data Search (HANA, Terracotta, Hadoop) Bioinformatics - Reasoning and Learning Distributed and Peer-to-peer Search Distributed Mining of Human expertise Dynamics of Complex/Social Networks Events Extraction in Unstructured Text mining Experience-based Knowledge Exploration Uncertainties in Knowledge Exploration Image Processing and Understanding Cascade / Imitation Learning Inference of what a text can afford Innovation Strategies Intelligent /Focused Information Retrieval Knowledge Discovery from Data Learning contextual factors Learning theory with Neural Networks Learning to Data/Text mining Learning to Innovate new product / service Learning to generate new business models Learning to explore information granules Machine Translation approaches using CBR Medical Data - Extracting / inferring vital information Mining Complex behaviours of users Mining Game Sequences Mining Info from recommender systems Mining routing patterns in networks Multi-faceted Information Fusion Opinion mining from reviews Query segmentation and structuring Real-time applications of text mining Reuse of human expertise / experience Search Anything - Smart Search Self learning structures / framework Sentiment Analysis Social Web Search Signal processing / Signal understanding Snippet Generation Summarization - context sensitive Text mining architecture / frameworks Textual case based reasoning Visual analytics for text mining /exploration Visual Exploration REVIEW CRITERIA: ----------------- Each submission must be identified as either 1. theoretical research 2. applied research, or 3. a deployed application paper and will be reviewed using criteria appropriate to its category. The criteria are as follows: Paper Category: Theoretical/Methodological research paper Review Criteria: Scientific significance; originality; technical quality; and clarity Paper Category: Applied research paper Review Criteria: Significance for scientific research or innovative commercial deployment; originality; technical quality; and clarity Paper Category: Deployed application paper Review Criteria: Demonstrated practical, social, environmental or economic significance; originality; treatment of issues of engineering, management & user acceptance; and clarity. Most importantly, the review process is double-blind reviewed and hence the authors are instructed not to include anywhere in the submission, their identity, affiliation(s) or contact details. Violating this restriction will lead to disqualification of the paper from the review process. All papers should be prepared and submitted according to the following guidelines. DOUBLE-BLIND REVIEW: ---------------------- MIKE 2015 uses a double-blind review process for paper selection. a) Authors should not know the names of the reviewers of their papers, and reviewers should not know the name(s) of the authors. b) Please prepare your paper in a way that preserves anonymity of the authors. c) Do not put your name(s) under the title. d) Avoid using phrases such as "our previous work" when referring to earlier publications by the authors. e) Remove information that may identify the authors in the acknowledgments (e.g., co-workers and grant IDs). f) Check supplemental material (e.g., titles in the video clips, or supplementary documents) for information that may identify the authors identity. g) Avoid providing links to websites that identify the authors. SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: ---------------------- Papers must be submitted online through EasyChair system following the submission link: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mike2015 PROCEEDINGS: ------------- All accepted papers will appear in the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNCS/LNAI) series published by Springer and will be indexed by DBLP, Scopus and other popular indexing systems. Additionally authors of selected best papers will be invited to submit extended versions for a number of special issue journals (for more details, please check the website). Authors should note that the papers should be of maximum 10 A4 pages (including figures and tables) and manuscripts must be prepared with LaTex2e (llncs2e.zip). Papers MUST be submitted in Springer LNCS format, which is the format required for the final camera ready copy. We will accept: Long papers: with a maximum of 10 pages Short papers: with a maximum of 6 pages Both long and short papers will be considered for poster and oral (short or long) presentation at the conference based on the reviewing criteria above. Authors' instructions along with LaTeX (preferred) and Word macro files are available on the web at Springer's Information for LNCS Authors page (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0). LaTeX Format: ftp://ftp.springer.de/pub/tex/latex/llncs/latex2e/llncs2e.zip Authors of accepted papers are required to transfer the copyright to Springer. All submissions are required to be in electronic format. Multiple Submission Policy: Papers submitted to other conferences or journals must state this fact. If a paper will appear in another conference or journal, it must be withdrawn from MIKE 2015. This restriction does not apply to papers appearing in proceedings of specialised MIKE workshops. Author Registration Policy: In order for a paper to appear in the proceedings, at least one of the authors MUST register for the conference by the camera-ready copy deadline.
